Well, I'm back again and I think I'll just share a few snippets to catch you up to date since our last chat...and so the entries won't be so few and far between as they were of recent.
(1) Work...it's been going well. For those who work in IT, our company is updating equipment in remote locations outside of my city and state put in by the employees in those locations. Today was my first live experience and it was pretty interesting. I had to instruct an employee how to hook up a network cable, mouse, and keyboard, and then sign into the workstation to allow me to remotely access it as an administrator and install Windows 7 software updates, a special player for the online learning application used within the company, and to active the whole Microsoft Office 2010 products. (Gee, as a side note, I sound like such a techie type person with all that geek talk...but since my good friend Jeremy talks about it...I thought why not...we could compare notes from time to time.
The strange thing is the employees back up their files onto a server located in another location before the computer swap outs happen...amazingly enough some employees have a whole lot of stuff saved and at least at first...only 250 MB of storage space is available for all the employees in the location to save their stuff on the server. So one employee had by themselves about 750 MB of stuff so I had to have our system administrator increase the quota for the location...twice. It's finally done...and one machine appears to be having a problem with a hard drive. I'm also realizing I'm a bit rusty on Windows 7. It might be a time to upgrade my own personal laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Everything always seems to look different each time.
(2) My oldest sister is coming into town to visit this week. She comes in this Friday night and leaves on Monday morning at 8 a.m. A very short visit if you ask me. She's coming to visit my mom because she is celebrating her 80th birthday this upcoming Saturday. I was tasked to ask my mom what kind of birthday cake she wanted and she asked for a caramel cake with caramel drizzled icing. I thought it was a rather unusual request so I asked my partner about if he thought that was strange or unusual. He also seemed surprised at the type of cake she wanted. So funny thing, while at home, I looked at the local grocery store ad and in the bakery there, they had a two layer caramel cake with caramel icing on it. So I bought it on Sunday and it's currently in my refrigerator at my apartment. We'll see if it holds out until Saturday. I've been quite tempted to cut the cake and see what it tastes like and just get my mom another one. We have a gourmet grocery store here that has a caramel cake rolled in roasted pecans which looks far better than my $10.00 cake...but the really good looking cake is $25.00 so we'll see which one I decide to go with.
(3) I guess I'm a bit sleepy now so I may close out for now...but doing my best to keep in touch with more regular updates. I worked from 8 am to 4:45 pm today so I'm a bit sleepy. Tomorrow I go into work in the afternoon so I hope to have some time to wash clothes, dishes, and go on a nice long walk. Fall is in the air here and I'm glad of it. I hope the weather in your part of the world is as equally nice.
Have a good rest of your week and thanks for stopping by.

Nothing wrong with being a Geek! :) Gay people have to work too.
Window's 7 and upgrades - Ick. Migrations are never fun but thankfully I don't forsee any in my future. I'm sure you got your user taken care of. :)
Carmel Cake yeah kind of unusual but every one is different. Hope that what ever cake you went with it was good. I've got a 1/2 sheet cake in my fridge just because. Nothing like cold cake and a nice glass of milk to wash it all down. Too much sugar but ah well, it's cake!
Happy Birthday to your mom. Hope you got to take that walk and that all is going well for you & yours.
