Yet More Snippets...
Well, it's another Monday in the quite warm south. I had a relaxing weekend after visiting my mom and avoiding my dad last week. It's nice to get back home again with the partner and the two cats and a relaxing time once again. So, back by popular demand here are some additional snippets.
(1) I had that interview last Tuesday with the position I'm definitely interested in but I know I messed up on two interview questions that I just couldn't formulate proper and coherent thoughts to answer well enough. I really don't think they were major flubs but I also haven't received a phone call offering me the job from Tuesday. The company people I interviewed with stated they would have a decision made on hiring someone by this past Thursday. So Thursday came and went...Friday came and went...and now it appears Monday has almost come and went without hearing from anyone. So I did take a slight initiative by emailing the HR representative to check in on the position and ask where they were in the selection process. I guess there's a slight bit of hope the position is still in process or HR is dragging feet or someone is out of town or out of the office that has this responsibility but the more the days go by, the more I think I'm probably not the choice of possible employee they want for this position. Which is a slight bit depressing because I'd really really like to work for this company. But I'm sure lots of people would really really like to also work for this same company. So that's where we stand now. I haven't heard back by email from my HR contact person so I'm thinking if I hear nothing by tomorrow, I should just drop it. But I just wish companies that hire or interview individuals would be more proactive in communication with people who actually interview on site. I guess I would like to teach HR team members at a company to have a little consideration for others and actually follow up on phone calls and emails. It's not like there were a lot of people interviewing for the job I interviewed with. I'd guess based on the scheduling and the one day the interviews were scheduled there were maybe five total interviews they scheduled. But I just don't know...
(2) I recently discovered this crazy church from Randy Roberts Potts that I follow on Facebook. I just don't understand people like this that call themselves people of God. If they are of God, I just don't want to know their God because of people like him:
Did you view the clip? Pretty crazy isn't it? Any thoughts? I could see this happening at any church in the south. Oh well, moving on...
(3) I really guess for now I don't have a lot to report. Have a good afternoon and great week ahead!! Thanks for stopping by!!

I've missed you. :) Feels good to be here now.
So for your job follow up, hopefully you have heard something by now. If not chances are this wasn't meant to be.
All of the job help books I read said to ask at the interview when would be a good time to follow up with you or if they say we will make a decision by Tuesday then follow up so if I haven't heard from you by Thursday is it okay to follow up with you. Follow ups by e-mail will almost always get you no response, pick up the telephone even if you have to leave a voice mail it shows that your eager and your not hiding behind your computer. Give the person ample time to contact you back, like a day or two. If you don't hear anything call them again but I would make the 2nd call my last call, unless they tell you it's okay to call back.
I agree with you that companies should follow up with canidates regardless of the outcome, but right now it's an employers market so they really don't have to. I found about a 50% response rate. There are still two jobs that I interviewed for but haven't heard back from. When that happens, you can pretty much draw your own conclusion.
All I can say is if I was able to find a job after 18 months then there has to be one out there for you. Especially because you have more recent work experience. If you haven't posted your resume on-line (Monster, Indeed, Dice, LinkedIn, etc.) then you are missing out. Lots of places look on-line. If your really open to consulting work make sure your phone number is on your on-line posting because places will call. If you don't want to be bothered with lots of calls, just list an e-mail. The more often you update your resume on these sites, the better your chances are. Fresh updates means you go to the top of the list. Stale old resumes well they sink like stones.
I'm full of lots of advice. Too bad I can't make you any promises, other than keep at it you will find a job. I know that rings hollow when your in the job market but people everywhere I turned told me that and eventually yes I did.
The preacher, yeah I heard about him this week. I believe I have heard before that homosexuality really isn't mentioned in the bible. Man has interpreted some passages to mean that homosexuality is wrong. Sad to say but I am not a bible scholar, but would like to be one.
If Homosexuality is wrong by man's law, the bible or whatever then tell me why did God create us? No sane person I know of would outright choose to be gay. Why? Well because of all of the hate we have to put up with. It's like back during the Civil Rights Movement, who would have chosen to be Black?
I am happy with who I am. Yes, I can imagine kissing a man and I've done it, plus a whole lot more. I'm not the kissing type but on ocassion I will pucker up.
While I don't agree with what the preacher said, he is entilted to his opinion. Just like I am entitled to mine. Sort of like politics just because your a Republician and I am a Democrat doesn't mean we can't be friends. I will hug your elephant and you can kiss my ass! Religion and Politics are two of the most controvercial issues and when you get into a discussion about them be it in public or private you can be sure that tempers and opinions will fly!
I wish you all of the best and look forward to your updates. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, a job is around the corner my friend.
Take care,
-Jeremy
I always wonder where those people spawn from . . .
