Hello everyone, and welcome for a long overdue blog entry.
First off, the father's 80th birthday party and the beach condo went well. Or at least until the end of the visit with my two sisters and my mom but I'll write about that shortly.
Overall, a good visit. My oldest sister flew in on last Thursday night and stayed at the condo. My middle sister and her daughter both stayed that same night. Then my middle sister worked the next day and left my niece at the condo. We had a three bedroom and three bath condo unit facing the Gulf of Mexico rented from an advertisement on Craigslist.
Everyone seemed to get along well and I tried my best to be happy, non-confrontational, and pleasant even if my other family members can be quite difficult at times.
It's easier if we just have it at home looking back in retrospect. I cooked some meals for the family which turned out very well. I cooked Thai curry chicken, jasmine rice, spring rolls with chicken and vegetables, edamame, and steamed broccoli. Another time we had a turkey breast cooked in the crockpot with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and buttered whole wheat bread. So we had some good meals I think and quite a few leftovers.
The day before our last day my mom decided to splurge and get Captain D's for everyone. Not sure if you have that type of restaurant where you are but it's basically fried or baked fish, sides like fried okra, broccoli, cole slaw, corn on the cob, and salads.
So really I probably gained a good bit of weight from the visit because of all the food distributed around. There was also ice cream, granola bars, and I'm sure a lot more food I haven't mentioned here.
So, back to the visit, all went well except the late Sunday afternoon when my mom, dad and sister arrived back to my parent's house. My sister was supposed to fly out this past Monday morning. My dad dad walked in the front door and them immediately stated he need to go to the hospital emergency room for chest pains.
So off they went to the hospital and I stayed home to help unpack the remaining grocery items left. Then I went home because I needed to take care of my own home and visit my partner and plan a trip with him.
And my mom called me later Sunday night to say that my dad was doing all right and the emergency room doctors couldn't find any problems with his heart or health issues. I expected that actually because my father rarely has any medical issues...he does go quite a lot to the emergency room with chest pains or other issues but the doctors at the emergency room state his cause for alarm is usually caused by heartburn.
So he is sent home...and my dad thanks to government medicare owes nothing and goes home to relax and return to work, usually the next day. I think his health problems are more mental than physical but I am not sure. But something keeps him wanting to go to the emergency room. I'd fully guess he's been to the emergency room 25 times in the last year and a half when I started keeping count.
So, I guess that's all for now.
I know this isn't exactly well written but I thought I'd share what's been going on in my world.
Have a good week ahead!!

Captain D's yeah we got that. My partner loves the place. I like Long John Silvers better but no matter which place I can only eat two peices of fried fish. If I push it I get sick. Something about the batter. It's a nice treat now and then but I couldn't eat that all the time. My partner on the other hand could.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. Chest pain is nothing to play with so better safe than sorry. He worked hard for Medicare so might as well use it. I think 25 times is a little excessive to have chest pain though. Some people just love doctors, hoptials and medical procedures. Me I prefer to stay away from all 3.
Glad that you had a great trip and time with your family.
I hope all is well in your world and that 2012 is treating you good. I know life happens and you've got way more to do than blog but I'm greedy and needy so if your schedule permits you to post more, please do. I always enjoy knowing what is going on.
Take care :)
Does your dad have a primary care doc? If not, he should. Repeated visits to the ED aren't good, and need to be evaluated and managed long-term.
